it's $10 + $5 for shipping. i could only figure out how to add one shipping price, so i figured $5 would be a nice middle ground for people that live in san diego, and people that live in Kyrgyzstan.
also, there's like 300 of them total, and while the record may just be more shit to add to the pile for some, i value it and i think that people that like our music enough to support it won't scoff at the price. that's who i want to own our stuff anyways.
i'm willing to spend way more than $10 on rare records that i really want, so it doesn't seem like that crazy of a price to me.
Yeah, we have an American release coming out in June on Gloriette. It's a 4 song EP called Puro Instinct, and it features those two tracks + Can't Take You Anywhere & a cover of a Leland song. Currently working on inserts for them! Super stoked. We'll have those for sale as well as turquoise vinyl represses of "Something About the Chaparrals" on our tour w/ A Pink & Magic Kids this summer. Hope you guys can make it!
I mean, I guess, I wasn't really "scoffing" at the price, I just think that for a newly released 7", $15 is a lot, even if it was my favorite band I'd consider 15 dollars a lot, and also if only 300 were pressed, that shouldn't deter the price. But anyways, it's all good, look forward to the 7" on Puro, whatever you have coming out on Artfag and this upcoming Ariel Pink tour, "Something About the Chapparals" still spins constantly on my turn table. Again, sorry if harsh vibes were felt, not my intention. Ok. Yeah. Bye.
Jake- It's all good. We got 50 copies of these things, and as much as we would like to give them away for free to everyone, we're only giving them to our friends, which accounts for half right off the bat. So that means the rest of you get to pay $10. Split $250 between 3 people, and that'll give you an idea of what we're making off of these. I think my cut is enough to cover utilities for the month. You guys are literally "supporting the artist" when you buy our records, which is better than having to go to Best Buy and spend $10 on a shitty Vampire Weekend CD because bands like us are too broke to exist. Just sayin'.
Why do people have to complain about the price? It's better that the right people get the money than someone harvesting a bunch and selling them off for loads on Ebay. Then people are willing to pay the price the market sets but not when fully deserving artists charge a mere tenner. Ridiculous!
And for someone living outside the US paying for shipping is no big deal for us. A fiver is really cheap.
15 dollars? dawgs...

Thanks PH for letting is do this!
Us not is of course. Too dark to see the letters when typing.
ReplyDeleteAnd also a question; Will the repress of Something About the Chapparals be available for ordering or will it be available on tour only?
Patrik-
ReplyDeleteThe record should be available on the Mexican Summer website, and I'm pretty sure we'll have some copies on tour.
